On a recent visit to the port of Newlyn, David Cameron met members and leaders of the of the fishing industry to listen to their concerns at a time when the industry is facing its most difficult period.
Of utmost concern was the rising cost of fuel, which is crippling this vital industry, and the Government's unwillingness and apparent inability to do anything about it. Derek Thomas stressed that it is of utmost urgency that ministers put together a survival package for the fishing industry as the income generated from this constituency's fishing industry is vital the economy of Cornwall.
In times of world food shortage, now is the time to ensure that this natural food source is both profitable and sustainable.
