Cornwall Council Elections 2009.

Local Conservative Councillor chosen as leader of Cornwall Council.
Alec Robertson (Helston North), pictured above, leader of the 50 strong group of Conservative Councillors, has also been chosen as the leader of Cornwall Council. Follow this link to read the full report on the BBC website.

The first set of elections for the newly formed Cornwall Council have produced 50 Conservative councillors in the county. There were 18 Conservative candidates (some of whom are pictured above with David Cameron during his recent visit to the area)fighting in the area covered by the St Ives Association, and 9 of them secured a victory in their division.
The succesful candidates were: Roger Harding (Newlyn and Mousehole), Bill Maddern (St Buryan), Joan Symons (St Ives South), Joan Tanner (St Ives North), Alec Robertson (Helston North), Carolyn Rule (Mullion), Liz Penhaligon (Lelant & Carbis Bay), Sue Nicholas (Marazion) and Ray Tovey (Gwinear-Gwithian & St Erth).
